The benchmark ranges for capital and recurrent expenditure used in the WASHCost calculator have been developed based on the dataset from the four WASHCost countries, complemented by additional datasets. This has been done by selecting only those water and sanitation facilities providing a basic level of service and are based on interquartile ranges from the data. There are no benchmarks for expenditure on indirect support and cost of capital due to insufficient and unreliable sources of information.
