Sludge removal and treatment options in rural areas during floods
Hi All,
Can anyone recommend options for sludge removal and treatment in rural areas of India (Assam state) during floods. The communities have high levels of poverty, are primarily dependent on agriculture and the markets are fairly weak so any solutions would need to be simple, affordable and if possible creating something that will benefit the community (possibly a cash incentive or new market).
The sludge itself would be contained in a plastic drum as part of an emergency latrine and communities downstream use the flood waters for multiple purposes including drinking. It would be fairly fluid as people in this area use water for cleansing.
Please let me know if you need any more information.
Thanks
