Sanitation near Jakarta
I am a watsan engineer based in Indonesia, Jakarta and am faced with a difficult situation. Below are the details:
- Location: Tangerang (30 Km from West Jakarta, Indonesia),
- Disaster: Flood with Water level reaching 70 cm -Number of people affected: 500 People, Number of households/houses: 99 (1 well per house), -Project scope: To provide sanitation for the all village under SPHERE standards (i.e. 25 latrines with adequate distance between latrine and water sources/well),
- Problems I am facing:
a. lack of time : 1 month to complete the project b. lack of space : no space in the village, c. 5 m distance space max between houses,
Solutions I can think of :
Using bio-filters but we got problem such as price, volume, etc. I am in the phase of emergency so need to take into account Sphere standards, using biofilters ok with Sphere or not?)
Using the composting latrine but the maintenance is difficult for community.
Please give me advice to solve my problems in the site.
Regards,
Sigit
